What is RIE CEE ?

The Regional Institute of Education (RIE) is a constituent unit of the National Council of Educational Research and Training (NCERT) in New Delhi. The RIEs were established by the Indian government in 1963 in various sections of the country, encompassing distinct regions. The Regional Institutes were established with the goal of improving the quality of education in schools through innovative pre-service and in-service teacher education programmes, as well as appropriate research, development, and extension initiatives.

Every year RIE conducts Common entrance Tests to intake students in various courses offered by the Institute. RIE CEE 2023 information has been released and as per RIE CEE 2022 official notification the last date to register is 06th June 2023. Some important dates are as below;

RIE CEE 2023 Eligibility Criteria ?

RIE CEE 2023 has outlined below eligibility criterias in various courses offered by respective RIEs

B.Ed.At least 50% marks in Bachelor’s Degree /Bachelor’s in Engineering or Technology with specialization in Science or Mathematics or in Bachelor’s Degree in Social Science / Humanities / Commerce (relaxation of 5% marks for SC / ST/PwD candidates)
B.Ed.- M.Ed (Integrated) CoursesA postgraduate degree in science / social science/ humanity from a recognized institution with a minimum of 55% marks or equivalent grade (relaxation by 5% for SC/ST/PwD candidates)
B.A.B.Ed.Passed +2/Hr. Secondary / Sr. Secondary or equivalent examination in Science and Commerce streams or in Arts streams with at least 50% marks in aggregate (relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates) in 2021, 2022 and appearing/ appeared in 2023.
B.Sc.B.Ed.- Candidates seeking admission to Physical Science Group must have passed with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) (M stands for Mathematics or Statistics) and those seeking admission to Biological Science Group (CBZ) must have passed Physics, Chemistry, and Biology (PCB) (B stands for Biology or Biotechnology) at +2 level.
- Candidates must have passed +2/Hr. Sec./Sr. Sec. or any equivalent examination recognized by University/Board with at least 50% marks in aggregate of qualifying examination (relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ST/PwD candidates). The qualifying examination should be recognized by the affiliating universities of the RIEs.
- Candidates who have passed +2/Hr. Sec./Sr. Sec. or any equivalent examination in 2021, 2022 and appearing/ appeared in 2023, only.
M.Ed.At least 50% marks or an equivalent grade (relaxation by 5% for SC/ST/PwD Candidates) in the following programmes/courses from any University/College/Institute recognized by affiliating universities;
B.Ed., B.A.B.Ed./B.A.Ed./, B.Sc.B.Ed. /B.Sc.Ed., B.El.Ed., D.El.Ed. with a Bachelors degree in Arts/Science (with 50% marks in each)
M.Sc.Ed.- Passed with Physics, Chemistry, and Mathematics (PCM) (M stands for Mathematics or Statistics) at +2 level
- Passed +2/Hr. Sec./Sr. Sec. or any equivalent examination recognized by University/ Board with at least 50% marks in aggregate of qualifying examination (relaxation of 5% marks for SC/ ST/PwD candidates). The qualifying examination should be recognized by the affiliating university of RIE, Mysuru (University of Mysore)
- Passed +2/Hr. Sec./Sr. Sec. or any equivalent examination in 2022, 2022 and appearing/appeared in 2023 only will be considered.
RIE CEE 2023 Selection Process & Rank List

– 60 percent weightage of entrance examination and 40% weightage of aggregate scores of qualifying exam

– Aggregate of qualifying exam – aggregate of qualifying exam marks are computed for different courses as below
– NCERT takes decisions on TIE ranks Cases based on scores of Teaching Aptitude test. Further TIE are decided on the basis of age.
– Merit list will consider 2 digits after decimal with rounding off.

RIE CEE Counseling Process

Once the RIE CEE results are declared by NCERT within a week or so qualified candidates are called by respective RIE.
All students are advised to keep on visiting the respective RIEs official websites
Respective RIEs announce course wise, state wise, category wise, rank list and specific dates are allotted for verification of documents for qualified candidates as well as waitlisted candidates.
All candidates are advised to keep their following documents ready before the counseling process

Exam Pattern

RIE CEE aspirants should prepare their strategy based on the syllabus provided by NCERT. They have divided CEE into 3 groups. All group syllabus remain same however level of difficulty of question may vary

– All the three groups are tested in below subject areas
Language Proficiency (English) – 20 questions
Teaching Aptitude/Attitude – 30 questions
Reasoning Ability. – 30 questions
– Total time duration for the exam is 120 minutes
– Exam test booklet shall be provided in English and Hindi (except for language proficiency)
– One set of booklet is given to each group.
– For correct answer 2 marks are awarded and for wrong answer -0.5 marks are deducted as negative marks

RIE CEE 2023 Syllabus

• Language Proficiency indicating specific areas like comprehension, rearranging sentences, selecting suitable words for the blanks, finding out errors in parts of the sentences, finding out equivalent meaning to the given phrases, finding out suitable words for the incomplete sentences, sequencing, grammar which includes synonyms, antonyms, idioms, prepositions, tenses, articles.
• Teaching Aptitude will cover specific areas like attitude towards education, children and teaching profession; interest in teaching; leadership qualities & group management; emotional & social adjustment; intrapersonal & interpersonal skills; and general awareness of contemporary issues pertaining to school education.
• Reasoning Ability indicating specific areas like verbal non-verbal reasoning, missing numbers, number series, letter series, theme finding, jumbling, analogy, odd one out, arranging the statements in a sequential form, statement and conclusions, syllogism, logical problems, establishing relationships.

RIE CEE 2023 exam will be conducted in offline mode i.e. pen and paper

RIE CEE Course Fee
  • For B.A. B.Ed., B.Sc. B.Ed. and B.Ed. the course fee for 6 months is around 13000 to 15000 and for M.Ed. total course fee is around Rs. 22000 to 25000 for 6 months.
  • Total hostel charges are around Rs. 17000 to Rs. 20000. For 6 months for all the students.
  • The above charges are tentative and respective RIE decides about it on a time to time basis.
